Based on the principles of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements, integrating Taoist wisdom, and following the core concept of ‘the lamp as the heart lamp, the light as the wisdom light’—the lamp symbolizes brightness and hope, capable of dispelling darkness and impure energies; the power of wishes carries goodwill and expectations, attracting positive energy, in line with the traditional cultural concept of the ‘unity of heaven and humanity.’ As stated in the Taoist scriptures, offering lamps can bring ten kinds of supreme merits, break through widespread ignorance, and enhance great wisdom.

Originating from the ancient sacrificial tradition of ‘using oil as an offering,’ early forms of lamps appeared in the rituals of the Zhou people, using ‘fat and lard to purify’ for paying respects to heaven and ancestors, and for blessings and disaster relief. Different numbers of lamps have developed corresponding meanings for blessing, accommodating various wishful requests.
